During a consultation with a client to quote for a bathroom, they insisted that they had already purchased all of the sanitary items and was looking for a company to aid the installation. Being a flexible company, we happily obliged to complete this job. After discussing and agreeing on the parameters of the quote, a date & price were set !
After decommissioning the original bathroom, we were met with some anticipated problems, the floor was rotten through due to the last bathroom fitter laying the tiles on a bed of silicone! Also the walls were made from webbed cardboard, a type of wall they installed in the 80s & 90s. These problems were expected and dealt with accordingly, we replaced the floor with 18mm ply, reinforcing the structure of the joists, and adding a solid foundation for the mosaic tiles. The wall tiles were taken gently off the existing walls, as to replace the webbed board, it would require taking down the whole wall!
Bathroom was then promptly “first fixed” (a term coined for when the bathroom or room is ready to be plastered) ready for plastering & tanking. The product used for waterproofing is a Mapei waterproof sealing coat, what can be applied to almost any surface as long as it is primed correctly, creating a barrier between the wall & tiles.
After the plaster has dried and a mist coat has been applied, our tilers Gama tiling, completed the job within two days and was now ready for its 2nd fix. Our electricians from CN electrics arrived, installed 4 spotlights and an extractor fan with an isolator switch above the doorway, also provided a fuse board upgrade as it was needed to keep up with regulations. From there our team of plumbers installed the rest of the sanitary items and fully sealed the bathroom.
At this point their bathroom is complete and ready to hand over to the customer. The total job time was 2 weeks, including drying time for plaster/paint and tile adhesive, A few issues were overcome on this bathroom but in the end it came out exactly how the customer envisioned and we are always happy to see a customers satisfaction.
